"La Physique Générale" refers to the concept developed by the 19th century scientist Alexander von Humboldt, in which for the first time in modern science an unified analysis of the many disparate physical phenomena is attempted. Humboldt's trip through South America is fictionalized as the narrative hinges around two distinct cosmological conceptions: the modern and the savage.
